The HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array 5000, better known as the HP EVA5000, offers four different models: EVA5000 2C2D-C, EVA5000 2C6D-C, EVA5000 2C12D-C, and EVA5000 8C8D-C HTPC. All EVA 5000 models feature dual ported 2GB FC-AL drive interfaces, redundant controllers with 1.25GB cache per controller, and support Vraid0, Vraid1, and Vraid5. Regarding channels, while the EVA5000 2C2D-C, EVA5000 2C6D-C, EVA5000 2C12D-C include four 2GB FC-AL channels, the EVA5000 8C8D-C HTPC includes sixteen 2GB FC-AL channels. A distinct difference between models is disk capacity: The EVA5000 2C2D-C runs a maximum of 28 drives per cabinet (168 maximum drives with optional CTO M5314A drive enclosures); EVA5000 2C6D-C runs a maximum of 84 drives per cabinet (168 maximum drives with optional CTO M5314A drive enclosures); the EVA5000 2C12D-C runs a maximum of 168 drives per cabinet (240 maximum with optional utility cabinet); and the EVA5000 8C8D-C HTPC runs a maximum of 112 drives per cabinet. The EVA5000 supports 36 GB, 72 GB, 146 GB, and 300 GB 10K and 15K rpm dual-ported 2 GB FC disk drives at full-rated transfer rates as well as 250 GB dual ported 2 GB Fibre Attached Technology Adapted (FATA) disk. An EVA 5000 controller pair will support up to 256 host connections (up to 1024 HBAs) and supports a wide array of operating system platforms HP-UX, Tru64 UNIX, OpenVMS, Microsoft Windows 2000 (Advanced Server), Windows Server 2003, SUN Solaris, IBM-AIX, Linux, VMware and NetWare.
