The HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array 3000, better known as the HP EVA3000, offers three different models: EVA3000 2C1D, EVA3000 2C2D, and EVA3000 2C4D. All EVA 3000 models exhibit dual ported 2GB FC-AL drive interfaces, redundant controllers with 1.25GB cache per controller, four 2GB FC-AL channels, and support Vraid0, Vraid1, and Vraid5. The main difference between models is disk capacity: The EVA3000 2C1D runs a maximum of 14 drives per cabinet (56 maximum drives with optional CTO M5314A drive enclosures); EVA3000 2C2D runs a maximum of 28 drives per cabinet (56 maximum drives with optional CTO M5314A drive enclosures); and the EVA3000 2C4D runs a maximum of 56 drives per cabinet. The EVA3000 supports 36 GB, 72 GB, 146 GB, and 300 GB 10K and 15K rpm dual-ported 2 GB FC disk drives at full-rated transfer rates as well as 250 GB dual ported 2 GB Fibre Attached Technology Adapted (FATA) disk. An EVA 3000 controller pair will support up to 256 host connections (up to 1024 HBAs) and supports a wide array of operating system platforms including HP-UX, HP Tru64 UNIX, HP OpenVMS, Windows 2000 (Advanced Server), Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise Edition), Sun Solaris, Linux, Novell NetWare, VMware and IBM AIX.
