The HP ProLiant DL385 server offers two models - SCSI and SAS- both models able to run up to two AMD Opteron 8000 series processors. The HP DL385 SCSI model supports either single-core or dual-core AMD Opteron processors with 1MB L2 cache per core and the HP DL385 SAS model supports only dual-core AMD Opteron processors with 1MB L2 cache per core. Both SCSI and SAS models run 1 GB PC3200 400MHz DDR Memory, 16GB total (32GB total using PC2700 DDR Memory). The DL385 SCSI model supports up to six Ultra320 SCSI hot plug hard drives (1.8TB total running 6 x 300GB U320 HDD) or five hot plug hard drives and one DAT hot plug tape drive. The ProLiant DL385 SAS model supports up to eight SFF SAS hot plug hard drives (1.168TB total running 8 x 146GB SAS HDD); an internal tape drive is not supported on the SAS model. The Proliant HP DL385 includes some other noteworthy features such as embedded NC7782 PCI-X Gigabit server adapter, three expansion slots total, hot plug fans with optional full redundancy, hot plug power supply with optional redundancy, and integrated ATI Rage XL video controller with 8-MB SDRAM video memory.
